Along with our ACTION System group classes and private training sessions, TFS also offers a variety of specialty classes that focus on one specific topic, theory, combative, or skill and will allow you to spend more time training in an area that you may be having difficulty in or that just interests you. Each specialty class will be 60 minutes in duration and will cost $30 per person. Specialty classes are high intensity and will be great cardio and conditioning workouts.
Speed Training:
On average, a violent attack generally lasts anywhere between 30-45 seconds, and although that may sound like a short period of time, when you are fighting for your life, it will feel like an eternity. With TFS Speed Training, you will learn how to deliver a series of combatives, such as strikes, kicks, or knees more quickly and efficiently, while still maintaining accuracy and power. With increased speed, you will have the opportunity to quickly gain the upper hand and defeat your attacker. A variety of speed drills will be used to build up your stamina and endurance.
Kicking and Knee Strikes:
This class focuses on utilizing one of the strongest and most powerful areas of a person’s body, the legs, during an attack and on developing the proper technique for throwing knees and a variety of different kicks, such as groin kicks, roundhouse kicks, and front thrusts. Students will learn when these combatives are most effective against an attacker, which parts of the attacker’s body to aim for, how to obtain proper balance, and how to use your own strength and body weight to generate the most power possible. This class will also help students to develop better flexibility, coordination, stamina, and full body conditioning. Â
Stress Management Drills:
During a violent attack, your body will go through a series of involuntary physiological, as well as psychological changes, due to stress. This stress can and will affect your physical abilities, your thought processes, and your perception of your surroundings. Although stress can make defending yourself more challenging, with the proper training, you can effectively learn how to recognize and manage that stress before it becomes a problem. In this class, the instructor will run students through a variety of drills that will teach them how to recognize stress, how to deal with it quickly and efficiently, and then how to use it to their advantage during an attack. Muscle memory is an essential element of controlling stress, so many of the drills will be repetitive and will help students use their combatives, tactics, and techniques naturally and instinctively. Focus will also be placed on how to effectively move from using gross motor skills to the more difficult fine motor skills. This class will be beneficial to all students, regardless of class or skill level.
